Voting rights decreased from 12,28% disclosed on January 1, 2010, to 9,8441% (Only voting rights. The funds are owned by accounts under the discretionary investment management of one or more of the Capital Group subsidiary companies. See notification of Capital Group). The total of 9'230'148 voting rights comprises 9'230'019 voting rights from shares and 129 voting rights from ADRs (ISIN US87160A1007; 1 ADR = 0.200 share). CGC is a holding company for several subsidiary companies engaged in investment management business. The investment management business is divided into two operational groups, represented by CRMC and Capital Group International, Inc. ("CGII"), CRMC is a U.S.-based investment adviser that manages The American Funds family of mutual funds. GCII is the parent company of five companies that serve as investment managers to various institutional clients around the globe; CGTC in the U.S., CII in the U.S. and Singapore, CIL in the United Kingdom, CISA in Switzerland and CIKK in Japan. CRMC and CGII are are 100% affiliates of CGC. CGTC, CII, CIL, CISA and CIKK are 100% affiliates of CGII. Neither CGC nor any of its subsidiaries own shares of Syngenta AG for their own account. The shares reported in this Notification are owned by accounts under the discretionary investment management of one or more of the investment management companies described above. Furthermore, CRMC and CGII act separately from one another and from CGC in exercising investment discretion over their managed accounts. The discretionary investment management entitles CGC s management companies to exercise voting rights autonomously and this Notification is therefore an "Independent Notification according to the Disclosure Office Notice Nr. II/99"
